Conservation
The Australasian Native Orchid Society Inc. is an overarching organisation with multiple affiliated regional ANOS groups. Its primary focus is to promote the understanding, conservation and appreciation of orchids growing naturally in our region of the world – Australia, New Zealand, New Guinea and the adjacent western Pacific.
Australia has over 1790 orchid species the majority of which are endemic to Australia. Approximately 750 of our 1790 Australian native orchid species are currently listed either on the IUCN Red List or one of the Australian threatened species lists. Conservation of these unique orchid is a major priority.
This website holds information on the orchid species, threats and conservation efforts across Australia. If you interested in helping with these you can find information on the ANOS groups.
