Arthur Pieman Conservation Area Orchid Tour October 2017.
Come orchid hunting with Eco Tours Tasmania on a fully guided and catered four day tour from Hobart to Tasmania’s Native Orchid hot spot, the Arthur Pieman Conservation Area. The Arthur Pieman Conservation Area is hailed as one of the worlds great archaeological regions with recorded human habitation for millennium and contains shell middens, artefacts and rock engravings. It differs from typical Tasmanian west coast habitat as it has been shaped by fire, resulting in a unique landscape that contains many threatened flora species including 7 endemic orchids and the type location for 6 of these. You can expect to see 20 to 30 species of orchids during this tour.
The Tour will depart Hobart at 8.00am Thursday 26th October (Hobart Show Day) and stop at known orchid sites on the way to and from Arthur River, arriving back in Hobart late Sunday 29th October.
Pickups and Drop Off’s can be arranged from Launceston, Devonport and Burnie or other locations along our route to Arthur River.
Facilities at Arthur River are restricted to a small take away shop, there are no Hotels, Motels or Supermarkets in the area.
Our accommodation at Arthur River will be a large comfortable and fully equipped Lodge with a variety of bedrooms that sleeps up to 12 people in a mix of Twin Shared and Double Rooms.
The Lodge is an Airbnb so everyone will be expected to assist our Catering Team with some domestic chores. As there are no supermarkets, hotels or restaurants at Arthur River, all meals from Dinner Thursday evening through to Lunch on Sunday will be provided and catered at The Lodge.
Total Cost for the 4 day Tour will be $700 per person.
